What toddlers actually need from a playground.

A great toddler playground isn’t a smaller version of a big-kid one — it’s a different thing entirely. At one, two and three, children are still finding their feet, startle easily at loud noise and bright flashing light, and put everything in their mouths. What they need is room to toddle safely, soft things to fall onto, a calm sensory world to explore, and a parent close enough to scoop them up. Here is how each of those needs is met at UFOREA, Penang’s biggest indoor playground at 20,000 square feet across nine themed zones.

Soft, padded surfacesFoam flooring, cushioned mounds and low soft-play shapes throughout the toddler zones — built for wobbly first steps and inevitable tumbles.
Gentle light & soundSoft, glowing zones rather than strobes and sirens — and our Quiet Toddler Hour dials lights and music down further for sensitive littles.
Clear sightlinesLow, open zone layouts and the Cozy Nook parents’ lounge mean you can always see your toddler, even when you sit down for a breather.
Real hygieneDaily vacuuming, toy wipe-downs and costume steaming, plus a full deep-clean every week — with the toddler zones treated as a priority.
Room to toddleOpen floor with nothing to topple onto — space for first steps, crawling and that wonderful unsteady run, away from fast-moving big kids.
Separation from big kidsOlder children have their own active zones, so under-3s explore gentle worlds at their own pace without being knocked or rushed.

Which zones are best for toddlers?

Three of UFOREA’s nine worlds are made for the gentle end of play. Big kids get their own busy zones elsewhere, so your toddler is never in the path of a running seven-year-old.

Quiet Toddler Hour, just for the sensitive ones.

Some little ones love the buzz; others need things turned down a notch. From Monday to Thursday, 11:00–13:00, we run a Quiet Toddler Hour with softer lights, gentler music and far fewer guests — a calmer window for sensory-sensitive toddlers and nervous first-timers to settle in.

There’s nothing to book and no premium to pay: it’s simply the quietest, gentlest time to come, at the same standard admission as any other weekday. If mornings suit your toddler’s rhythm, this is the sweet spot. See it alongside our other family deals on the happenings page.

the question every parent asks

Is it clean and safe for a toddler?

This is the first thing we’d want to know too. UFOREA cleans every day — vacuuming, wiping down toys and sanitising the makeover tools, with toilets cleaned a few times a day — plus a full deep-clean every week, with the toddler zones and soft-play surfaces treated as a priority. Grip socks are required for everyone on the play surfaces — they keep little feet from slipping, and the counter sells them if you forget a pair.

On safety: every toddler zone is padded and soft underfoot, layouts are low and open, and UFOREA is a parent-supervised playground — you stay with your child throughout, with the Cozy Nook lounge giving you a seat and a clear view across the gentle zones. For the full rundown of our cleaning, supervision and safety practices, see the health & safety page or the FAQ.

What does it cost for a toddler?

Lovely and simple: babies under 12 months are free. Once your little one is one or older they pay the standard child rate, and every child needs at least one paying adult chaperone — so a typical toddler visit is one child plus one grown-up. One ticket opens all nine zones with unlimited play, and your wristband allows same-day re-entry, so you can head home for a nap and come back in the afternoon.

Parent tips for a smooth toddler visit.

A toddler day out lives or dies by timing and a spare change of clothes. A few hard-won pointers to keep the visit happy from arrival to the car park:

  1. Arrive at opening (10am weekends, 11am weekdays). The space is freshest, quietest and coolest first thing — and on weekday mornings you’ll catch the Quiet Toddler Hour.
  2. Start gentle. Begin at Discovery Cove or the Little Paradise so your toddler settles into soft, calm play before anything busier.
  3. Pack spare clothes. Sand and sensory play are part of the fun, so a spare change (and a small towel) saves a grubby trip home.
  4. Use the Cozy Nook to regroup. When little ones get overstimulated, a few quiet minutes in the parents’ lounge resets everyone — you keep your sightline the whole time.
  5. Leave before the meltdown. Toddlers tire suddenly. Get your wristband stamped, leave on a high, and use same-day re-entry to return after a nap if there’s more day left.

gentle answers

Toddler questions, answered.

What age is the playground best for?
UFOREA's Child Ticket covers ages 12 months to 15 years (especially popular with ages 2–9), with zones made specifically for under-3s. Discovery Cove and Little Paradise are gentle and sensory (ages 1–4), while older children have their own active zones — so toddlers aren’t trampled. Babies under 12 months are free.
Is there a quiet time for sensitive toddlers?
Yes — Quiet Toddler Hour runs Monday to Thursday, 11:00–13:00, with softer lights and music and fewer guests. It’s included in standard admission with no separate booking. See the happenings page.
Are toddlers and babies free?
Babies under 12 months enter free with a paying guest. Children aged 12 months and over pay the standard Child rate (RM 78 weekday, RM 98 weekend & PH) up to age 15; guests 16 and over pay the Adult rate, and each child needs one paying adult chaperone. Full pricing is on the tickets page.
Is it hygienic and safe for little ones?
We clean daily — vacuuming, toy wipe-downs, sanitised makeover tools and steamed costumes — with toilets cleaned a few times a day and a full deep-clean every week, prioritising the toddler zones. Play areas are padded and soft, grip socks are required, and parents supervise throughout. More on the health & safety page.
Can siblings of different ages come together?
Absolutely — that’s how UFOREA is built. With nine zones on one ticket, toddlers play gently in Discovery Cove or Little Paradise while older siblings burn energy elsewhere, and a single same-day wristband lets the whole family move at its own pace.
